School/Tertiary Tours


Please be aware that the 2017 Parliamentary sitting dates have not yet been released and will not be released until after the State election in March.

Term 1 bookings will be NON SITTING days. Bookings made for Term 2 will be confirmed as SITTING DAYS or NON SITTING days via the confirmation email sent 2 weeks prior to your booking.

The Parliamentary Education Office provides tours and curriculum support for school groups (Years 5 - 12) and broader civics education for Tertiary and other educational Institutions. Excursions may be arranged for any weekday, however, the format will vary depending on whether or not Parliament is sitting at the time of the tour.

All tours are led by experienced education presenters and are free of charge.

PLEASE NOTE: Parliamentary Education is unable to offer tours to students younger than Year 5.

Sitting day

Students will tour Parliament House and may have the opportunity to observe Parliament at work and meet a Member of Parliament.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE: Only groups booked on the 1:15pm and 1:30pm tours will have the opportunity to view Question Time in the Legislative Assembly

Non-sitting day

Students will learn about Parliament by participating in an educational tour of Parliament House and may have the opportunity to undertake a role-play in the Legislative Assembly Chamber. Students may also have the opportunity to meet a Member of Parliament.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Every effort is made to link our learning experiences to current classroom or whole school programs.

A minimum of 10 students is required per booking.

Maximum student numbers for groups:

25 - Years 11, 12, Tertiary
30 - Years 7, 8, 9, 10
35 - Years 5, 6
Accompanying adults (including teachers) - minimum 2 to a maximum of 5 


Please do not bring school bags or crates to Parliament House: Small bags containing only emergency medical equipment (e.g. EpiPens and insulin) are acceptable. Students must not bring drink bottles, pencils, files or workbooks into Parliament House.
