The Parliamentary Education Office manages the parliamentary education program delivered on behalf of the Parliament of Western Australia for the promotion, enhancement, awareness, knowledge and understanding of the history, role and functions of the Parliament of Western Australia.

The People

Parliamentary education office staff are passionate and enthusiastic about the Parliament of Western Australia. They provide engaging and informative tours that give an in depth overview of the Parliamentary Process, the history of Parliament House and some quirky and interesting facts about its people and the building. Educational Tour Program

The educational tour program has been developed to enhance the understanding of how Parliament functions. Tours are available for dignitaries, school and tertiary groups, community groups and for the general public. Learn more

Civics and Citizenship

Programs and materials developed for schools are in accordance with the learning and teaching principles of the Western Australian Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum (specifically Civics and Citizenship).


Curriculum support is provided for school groups and broader civics education for Tertiary and other interested groups. Excursions may be arranged for any weekday, however, the format will vary depending on whether or not Parliament is sitting at the time of the tour. Learn more


Resources

Education resources have been developed by the Parliamentary Education Office to provide information support materials which address aspects of the civics and citizenship component of the Western Australian Curriculum for Humanities and Social Sciences. Learn more

Teacher Professional Development Program

Professional Development Sessions (PDs) are designed, and facilitated by a Parliamentary Education Officer who is a qualified and experienced teacher. This program is offered at various times throughout the year. Learn more

Regional Outreach program

The Regional Outreach Program is one of a suite of educational programs delivered by the Parliament of Western Australia to develop student awareness of the role of the Western Australian Parliament and parliamentary processes. Learn more

Community Engagement

Community groups are welcome to book tours of Parliament House. Tours can be arranged for any weekday, however, the format will vary depending on whether or not Parliament is sitting at the time of the tour. Learn more

Talk and Tours is a special tour program for community groups interested in learning more about the Western Australian Parliament and its history. Learn more
