SynopsisThe purpose of this Bill is two-fold -
  1. to confer special powers on police to deal with imminent threats of terrorists acts and to respond to terrorists acts; and
  2. to enable the covert entry and search of premises, under the authority of a special covert search warrant, by police officers for the purposes of responding to or preventing terrorists acts.

Royal Assent given 19 Dec 2005 as Act No. 41 of 2005. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
