Curriculum Council Bill 1997

Bill No.15

The purpose of this Bill is to -
      • establish the Curriculum Council;
      • provide for the development and implementation of a curriculum framework for schooling which, taking account of the needs of students, sets out the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to acquire;
      • provide for the development and accreditation of course of study for post-compulsory schooling; and
      • provide for the assessment and certification of student achievement in post-compulsory schooling.

Royal Assent given 8 Jul 1997 as Act No. 17 of 1997. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
