Long Title The purpose of this bill is to amend the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1988 and the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 to provide a rebuttable presumption for volunteer firefighters, state-employed firefighters, and former career firefighters who contract one of 12 prescribed cancers. It facilitates access to compensation for these personnel under the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 or the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1998.
Status Assented to
Royal Assent given 21 Sep 2016 as Act No. 28 of 2016. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
