Electricity Corporations Bill 2005

SynopsisThe purpose of this Bill is to make amendments to the Electricity Corporations Act 1994to provide for the restructure of Western Power Corporation. The Bill provides for the establishment of four new Government owned corporations including their functions, powers and governance arrangements as well as providing for the transfer of assets and liabilities from Western Power:
  • the Electricity Generation Corporation;
  • Electricity Retail Corporation;
  • Electricity Networks Corporation; and
  • Regional Power Corporation.

StatusAssented to 10/13/2005
Royal Assent given 13 Oct 2005 as Act No. 18 of 2005. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)

This Bill comes into operation on Royal Assent except for the following - Parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Part 9 sections 139,140, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, 151(1), 177 and Schedules 1 to 6 come into operation on Proclamation.
