Electricity Industry Bill 2003

SynopsisThis Bill is the first of a package of three Bills which will overhaul the way in which the electricity industry operates. The purpose of this particular Bill is to -
  • create a wholesale electricity market;
  • provide for the development of an Electricity Access Code;
  • establish an independent licensing regime and Tariff Equalisation Fund; and
  • grants the heads of power to develop measures to protect customers in the new market.

Royal Assent given 23 Apr 2004 as Act No. 5 of 2004. This Act comes into operation on a day fixed by Proclamation (see Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
