SynopsisThe purpose of this Bill is for an Act to amend the Local Government Act 1995; the Rate and Charges (Rebates and Deferments) Act 1992; and the Salaries and Allowances Act 1975. The provisions contained within the Local Government Amendment Bill 2011 are aimed at strengthening the ability of local governments to deliver better services to their communities and at addressing significant governance and public administration issues.

Royal Assent given 4 Apr 2012 as Act No. 2 of 2012. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
