Criminal Code Amendment (Unlawful Possession) Bill 2013

Long Title The purpose of this Bill is to amend The Criminal Code and other Acts as a consequence to make the offence of possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property an ‘either way’ offence. It will also increase the penalty for this offence when heard on indictment to make it consistent with the penalties for stealing set out in section 378 of the Criminal Code.
Status Assented to
Royal Assent given 24 Jun 2014 as Act No. 11 of 2014. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
