Moved to Fremantle where became clerk with McIlwraith, McEacharn and Co, junior partner in shipping firm Denny Bros and Lynn, formed business partnership with HE Mofflin
1906 started coastal shipping firm RJ Lynn and Co, involved in this trade for 15 years
1919 amalgamated with Walter Johnson to form Johnson and Lynn Ltd
Bought and operated coal mining leases, 1920 established Amalgamated Collieries of WA which over five years bought virtually all operative leases at Collie
Managing director of six companies including Swan Portland Cement Co, Fremantle Coal Co and WA Underwriters Ltd, director of number of others (local director of Bank of NSW)
