Question & Answer:

I refer to the Local Impacts Committee (LIC) appointed by the Minister to address traffic and other issues on Leach Hwy and elsewhere, and ask -

(1) On how many occasions since May 1 2003 has the LIC met?

(2) Has the LIC investigated the increased risks to the two wetlands, Yagan Reserve/Richard Lewis Park system and the Booragoon Lake/Piney Lakes system, due to the increased movement of freight expected on Leach Highway in future?

(3) Will the Minister table the minutes of LIC meetings?

(4) If not, why not?

(1) The Local Impacts Committee (LIC) has held 9 meetings and one workshop, since May 1, 2003.

(2) The LIC work includes a general ?desk top? analysis of the impacts of run-off from roads in the area, including Leach Highway. The analysis covers many wetlands in the area, including those mentioned in the Question.

(3) No.

(4) Formal minutes are not kept. Notes of meetings are kept. Notes are available to all LIC members but are not produced for wider circulation because they refer to work-in-progress. Once the LIC work is complete the results will be made public.
