07 July 2022 - Parliament
The Parliament is fortunate to have on loan from the Edith Cowan University (ECU) Art Collection, the oil painting Malimum Headlands by Guy Grey-Smith AM. Legislative Council of Western Australia President, Hon Alanna Clohesy MLC said, 'Guy Grey-Smith was a pre-eminent and prolific Western Australian artist and I am pleased to have the artwork in the President’s Corridor. It certainly brightens the area up. We are looking forward to the public being able to view the work in the President’s Corridor once the Parliament’s public art tours resume.'
Guy Grey-Smith is considered one of Australia’s most important post-war artists. He began painting as a prisoner of war in Germany and pursued his career until his death in 1981. His work is represented in all state galleries, the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, and other public and private collections in Australia, Britain and the United States of America.
