Stolen Generations Redress Scheme

Eligibility : Residents of Western Australia Only

To the President and Members of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Western Australia in Parliament assembled. We the undersigned ...

call upon the Legislative Council to recommend that the Western Australian Government amend the Stolen Generations Redress Scheme to include financial redress for descendants of those stolen generations who have passed away.
The forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families caused immense trauma, disconnection, and loss. While the current scheme provides compensation to survivors, it does not acknowledge the continued impact on their descendants—who have inherited the grief, cultural displacement, and economic disadvantage caused by these policies. The program should include funding for repatriation back to country, headstone funding, specialised historical trauma counselling, funds for specialist to do connection reports and reconnecting people back to their groups.
Many Stolen Generations survivors passed before receiving acknowledgment or redress for their suffering. Their families—who have also endured lifelong consequences—should not be excluded from compensation. We urge the government to recognise descendants' rights to financial redress, ensuring intergenerational justice for affected families.

And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray.
