Parliamentary Education visit Port Hedland

23 August 2019 - Parliament
School Children - permission for use granted

The Parliamentary Education Office recently visited Port Hedland to deliver its ‘Pop-Up Parliaments’ program.

During the week, over 800 students and teachers from seven local schools attended one of the interactive sessions to learn about the Parliament of Western Australia and the passage of a bill. On the Tuesday evening, the Education team held a community forum on ‘Demystifying Democracy’. This session details the many ways in which the public can participate in Parliament and have their say.

The Parliamentary Education Office conducts three outreach visits each year to regional areas to provide parliamentary education to schools and students who are unable to visit Parliament House in Perth.

The Education Office will next visit Geraldton from 9 to 13 September, with a community forum on Thursday, 12 September. Contact education@parliament.wa.gov.au for more information.
