The 2020 Parliamentary Research Program is underway, with students and members attending an orientation session at the Constitutional Centre on 6 August.
The program has been running for over 25 years, and pairs university students with WA members of Parliament, who nominate research topics for the students. The program is run in conjunction with the five state universities and is open to high performing students in their third year or higher.
Students have until November to complete their research papers for their member, which are then added to the Parliamentary Library’s collection.
The orientation session is an opportunity for students to learn about the program’s framework and meet with their member to discuss ideas.
This year’s intake of 50 students is the biggest in the program’s history, due to the support of members participating in the program.
