Professional learning

Professional learning sessions are designed to assist teachers with planning for, and teaching, the Civics and Citizenship syllabus of the Western Australian Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum. The sessions also provide teachers with an overview of the curriculum resources, and other online resources and tours, offered by the Parliament of Western Australia.

About the sessions at the Parliament of Western Australia

Each session will explore age appropriate resources and strategies for your particular student cohorts, by answering the following questions:

  • What’s in it for me (WIIFM)? Applying the WIIFM Principle for both you and your students
  • How do I engage my learners? Parliament and pedagogy
  • Which tools do I use? Exploration of our new interactive resources

Professional learning sessions are presented:

  • As part of the Outreach program
  • On-site at Parliament House
  • At local universities

Get the tools, knowledge and context you need to help make the teaching and learning of civics and citizenship engaging, informing and meaningful. Facilitated by qualified and experienced teachers and trainers, within the very place where Western Australian laws are made, participants can expect an afternoon of practical tips and useful strategies that will energise your lessons and streamline programming.
