48. Mr Adam Hort to the Minister for Corrective Services:
(1) Are there any suburbs in the Perth metropolitan area in which the Department of Justice cannot provide electronic monitoring?
(2) If yes, what is the reason that electronic monitoring cannot be operated in those suburbs?
Mr Paul Papalia replied:
(1)–(2) I thank the member for his question. There is no place in Western Australia where electronic monitoring cannot be done because it is all done from the State Operations Command Centre, where there is a unit of adult custodial officers who sit beside police officers and monitor all the electronic monitoring across the state. In the event that there is a breach, police respond.
