Housing—Waranyjarri estate—Broome
Brief ministerial statement
Mr John Carey (Perth—Minister for Planning and Lands) (9:06 am): I rise to inform the house that the Cook Labor government has released 14 new residential lots at Waranyjarri estate. Broome residents can now secure more prime residential lots in the expanding Kimberley town, located just two kilometres from Cable Beach and close to future amenities. Located approximately five kilometres north of Broome's town centre and part of the 700-hectare master-planned Broome North, Waranyjarri estate is set to deliver up to 4,800 diverse new homes for 13,000 residents.
Residents will also soon benefit from a new 103-place childcare centre currently under construction at the corner of Yako Mall and Shingoro Street, which is expected to open later this year. Additionally, a further four new social housing lots will bolster the Cook Labor government's commitment to providing more housing for the most vulnerable members of the community. Three lots will also be allocated to Government Regional Officers' Housing to ensure the availability of suitable housing for key government workers. This release is yet another example of our government's proactive approach to ensure that the ongoing supply of residential land in Broome continues to meet growing demand. More information on the lots can be found on the DevelopmentWA website.
