Select Committee into Child Development Services—Recommendation 56

12. Hon Donna Faragher to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:

I refer to recommendation 56 of the Select Committee into Child Development Services compilation report titled Child development services in Western Australia: Valuing our children and their needs, which recommended:

The State Government establish a high level implementation group whose main terms of reference are to:

effect the recommendations made by this Committee, in its interim report and this report

support and mandate reform

and

ensure that reform can occur alongside operational business as usual.

(1) Has the government established the recommended high-level implementation group; and, if not, why not?

(2) If yes to (1), will the minister list the members of the group, provide its final terms of reference and list the dates the group has met since its establishment and the members in attendance at each meeting?

Please don’t put it on notice!

Several members interjected.

The President: Thank you, everyone, for their commentary.

Hon Pierre Yang replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I am sure she will not be disappointed.

(1) The government has established a WA Health implementation group for child development services system reform, chaired by the Director General of the Department of Health. The government is in the process of establishing a high-level implementation group.

(2) Not applicable.
