Department of Education—Workers compensation

228. Hon Phil Twissto the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Education:

I refer to the workers compensation claims made against the Department of Education.

(1) How many workers compensations claims were made to the Department of Education by WA public schoolteachers in the 2024 school year?

(2) Of the number given in (1), how many claims were the result of physical injuries sustained by being assaulted at school?

(3) Of the number given in (1), how many claims cited stress or overwork as a significant reason for making their claim?

(4) What is the equivalent answer for (1) and (2) for the 2023, 2022 and 2021 school years?

The President: That is seeking an awful lot of data. Is the Leader of the House able to provide an answer?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I congratulate him on asking his first question in this place. I provide this answer on behalf of the Minister for Education.

(1)–(4) I am advised that due to the large amount of data requested, the minister asks the honourable member to please place his question on notice.
