Synergy—Small business contracts
348. Hon Dr Steve Thomasto theLeader of the House representing the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
We sure wish Queensland good luck tonight!
I refer to the minister's non-answer to my question without notice 320 asked yesterday, 17 June 2025, on small business energy costs in the contestable market in which the government for the second time refused to outline average power costs, and I ask specifically for Synergy contracts only: What has been the highest and the average percentage increase in contracted costs for businesses that specifically have Synergy-negotiated market contracts and are not on a regulated tariff under the Rl, Ll, R3 and L3 tariffs in 2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24; and 2024–25 to date?
Hon Stephen Dawson replied:
Can I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question and wish Queensland the best of luck tonight, too! I provide this answer on behalf of the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation.
Contestable customer contracts are negotiated in a competitive market and are based on the customer's specific needs, contract term and several other factors. Final contract details between Synergy and its contestable customers are confidential. However, Synergy regularly publishes information regarding its standard products.
