Griffin Coal—Consultants
401. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for State Development:
I refer to the government's ineffective outsourcing to find a solution to the ticking time bomb that is the insolvent foreign-owned Griffin Coal by its engagement of a plethora of consultants and advisers, including KPMG, Ad Astra Advisory, Preston Consulting, Sternship Advisers and Ashurst.
(1) What is the total that has been paid to the following consultant firms for advice on the insolvent Griffin Coal during 2023 and 2024 and to 23 June 2025:
(a) KPMG;
(b) Ad Astra Advisory;
(c) Sternship Advisers;
(d) Preston Consulting; and
(e) Ashurst?
(2) What reports have the above groups provided to government, and on what dates?
(3) How many of those reports are available for public scrutiny, and will the minister please provide those that are?
(4) As at 23 June 2025, how many of those groups are still engaged by the government, and have any additional consultants, entities or advisers been engaged by the government?
Hon Stephen Dawson replied:
