Strategic Industries Fund—2025–26 state budget

421. Hon Dr Steve Thomas to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for State Development:

I refer to the government's budget announcement of an additional $500 million for the strategic industries fund to support the delivery of common-user infrastructure across the state's 13 strategic industrial areas.

(1) Has the funding allocation of the fund's now total $1 billion strategic industries fund been finalised and, if so, what specific funding allocation has been apportioned across each of the 13 SIAs?

(2) Was there a metropolitan SIA versus regional SIA funding weighting in distributing and allocating the SIF, and how was this weighting applied and calculated?

(3) What proportion of the $1 billion SIF is allocated to the provision of power for regional SIAs, and which regional SIAs have been apportioned funding for a power supply upgrade?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) A range of initiatives will be funded by the strategic industries fund, with funding allocated to date including $125 million to open new industrial land for Latitude 32 in Kwinana, $5 million to support road upgrades in the Kwinana strategic industrial area and $8 million to support road upgrades in the Kemerton SIA. A detailed plan for additional investments from the SIF is under development and will be released by the Premier later this year.
