Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Grower Group Alliance

497. Hon Rob Horstman to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:

I refer to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Grower Group Alliance (GGA) collaboration.

(1) Can the minister detail the functions performed by GGA in its delivery of the collaboration?

(2) Can the minister detail the value of projects attracted to the state during the collaboration period 2019–2025, including:

(a) projects that GGA participated in that DPIRD participated in; and

(b) projects that GGA participated in that DPIRD did not participate in?

(3) Which, if any, of the functions listed at (1) does the minister consider unnecessary for the agricultural sector in 2025?

Hon Jackie Jarvis replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) The Grower Group Alliance (GGA) is a member-based not-for-profit organisation established in 2002. A six-year funding agreement valued at $7.3 million was established in 2019 to support the long-term sustainability of GGA as a grower group owned and driven organisation. Since 2019, GGA has received external project and program funding of around $70 million and increased staffing levels from seven to 23 FTE. GGA has also significantly increased the number of non-fee-paying grower groups that are members of its organisation since 2019.
