Construction Training Fund

504. Hon Tjorn Sibma to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Skills and TAFE:

I refer to the Construction Training Fund (CTF).

(1) What was the value of levies paid into the CTF in the 2024–25 financial year?

(2) What was the distribution of funds from the CTF in the 2024–25 financial year, and for what purpose or purposes and to which recipients were these funds distributed?

(3) What was the balance of the CTF at the conclusion of the 2024–25 financial year?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) It was $85,397,000.

(2) By the CTF, $71,936,000 was distributed for the purposes of apprentice and trainee employer incentives, apprentice attraction and retention programs, supplementary skills subsidies, occupational health and safety training, career promotion and sponsorship programs, capital grants to private registered training providers, and other support payments such as rebates on tools and safety equipment and support for women in non-traditional trades. The recipients of these funds are construction employers, construction apprentices and trainees, construction workers undertaking additional skills training, new entrant workers such as scholarship and try-a-trade students, registered training providers and community construction-related industry bodies.

(3) The operating cash balance was $3.1 million.
