Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
527. Hon Anthony Spagnolo to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
(1) What is the current official bed capacity of the hospital?
(2) On 12 August 2025, did the hospital operate at or above that capacity at any point?
(3) If yes to (2), during which hours did this occur?
(4) How many patients above capacity were being cared for during that period?
(5) Were patient transfers from other hospitals declined during that period?
(6) Did the hospital place ambulances on bypass at any time on that date?
Hon Pierre Yang replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Health.
(1) As at 12 August, there are 579 beds in total, including 20 beds at South Perth Hospital, which is managed by Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
(2)–(6) The data relating to hospital capacity, patient volumes, transfer activity and ambulance bypass status is drawn from multiple operational systems and requires collation and verification before its accuracy can be confirmed. As the honourable member has asked for data from yesterday, information is not available within the timeframe.
