Health Asset Maintenance Fund
554. Hon Nick Goiranto theparliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health Infrastructure:
I refer to the announcement on 18 August 2025 of a $50 million Health Asset Maintenance Fund and a snap audit and review into the management of hospital maintenance.
(1) When did the decision to establish the fund and the snap audit occur, and who was involved?
(2) Which maintenance projects have already been allocated under the fund?
(3) What criteria were used to focus the snap audit solely on Sir Charles Gairdner, Armadale and Royal Perth hospitals?
(4) What is the timeline for this snap audit?
(5) Will a full and final report of the results of the snap audit be released to the public?
Hon Dr Katrina Stratton replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following has been provided to me by the Minister for Health Infrastructure.
(1)–(2) The $50 million Asset Maintenance Fund is in addition to the $271 million already committed to hospital maintenance across 2025–26. The fund was established in consultation with WA Health.
(3) The review will be conducted across all health service providers.
(4)–(5) A short and sharp review will be undertaken, focused on improving procurement and contract management, and a public report will be published.
