565. Hon Jess Beckerlingto theLeader of the House representing the Minister for Water:
I refer to Alcoa's Bauxite mining on the Darling Range in the South West of WA for the years 2023 to 2027; and Alcoa's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery Revised Proposal.
(1) What requests has Alcoa made of the Water Corporation for additional water allocations for its mine sites and/or refinery between 1 January 2022 and the present?
(a) Please provide the following information per each request:
(i) the purpose;
(ii) the volume per annum;
(iii) the period of time Alcoa is seeking the additional water for; and
(iv) the water source?
(2) Has the Water Corporation responded to any of Alcoa's requests for additional water allocations since 1 January 2022?
(3) If yes to (2), what response has the Water Corporation provided to Alcoa?
Hon Stephen Dawson replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. This answer has been provided by the Minister for Water.
(1)–(3) The Water Corporation is in on-going discussions with Alcoa on water supply for its mines. All supply is from the Integrated Water Supply Scheme. The terms of any supply agreements are commercial-in-confidence.
