Education—Principal Chaplaincy program

572. Hon Michelle Boylanto theLeader of the House representing the Minister for Education:

I refer to the Principal Chaplaincy program and support for school leadership wellbeing.

(1) Will the minister commit to extending funding to ensure that principals in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions have equitable access to the Principal Chaplaincy program in line with the case in other regional areas?

(2) Has the minister considered utilising funding from the Commonwealth–state Better and Fairer Schools Agreement to ensure ongoing delivery of the Principal Chaplaincy program?

(3) If no to (2), why not?

Hon Stephen Dawson replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of the Minister for Education.

(1)–(3) Ensuring school leaders are supported across our state is critically important work of the Department of Education. There are a range of programs and services in place to support school principals. Future decisions relating to programs will be carefully considered by the Minister for Education and informed by engagement with the sector.
