Superannuation Legislation Amendment Bill 2005
Bill No.
109
Long Title
The purpose of this Bill is to implement a number of necessary changes to the superannuation arrangements in the State public sector and Parliamentary superannuation schemes, namely to; fully implement the Commonwealth's 'clean break' approach to splitting superannuation upon marriage breakdown; reinstate the protection of superannuation death benefits for members of public sector schemes from claims by creditors of the estate; provide the Government Employees Superannuation Board (GESB) with the ability to accept transfer from other public sector schemes similar to a successor fund; validate the long-standing funding obligations in place for Pension Scheme members employed by TAFE colleges; validate benefits paid in West State Super to visiting Medical Practitioners from 1 July 1992 until 30 June 2001; and rectify an unintended drafting error in the superannuation legislation in 2001 which had removed the entitlements of certain Pension Scheme members to membership of West State Super.
