Long Title The purpose of this Bill is to make provisions for the the resolution of de facto property and maintenance disputes. The Family Court Amendment Bill 2001 recognises de facto spouses in opposite and same sex relationships and provides them with the same property and maintenance rights as married couples.
Status Assented to
Royal Assent given 25 Sep 2002 as Act No. 25 of 2002. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
