The principal purpose of the Bill is to retain the traditional framework of compulsory civil registrations while facilitating the introduction of common services across Australia. It is designed to more adequately address the needs of contemporary society by acknowledging changes in social attitudes, recognise the cultural diversity of our community and the existence of modern technology and administrative procedures. The Bill will promote consistency in registration, practice and services across all jurisdictions resulting in improved service delivery to all Australians. |
