The purpose of this Bill is to make the sentencing process easier to understand both for the community and for those people who are directly involved in the criminal justice system. The key aspects contained in the Bill involve the following - prohibition on sentences of six months or less, Road Traffic Act reforms, adjournment of sentencing, remission and parole and also repeal of the Sentencing Matrix legislation. |
