Long Title |
The purpose of this Bill is to enable and encourage whistleblowers to disclose wrongdoing or improper conduct by providing them with a framework for making such disclosures, either to the agency concerned or to another "watchdog" authority. The Bill requires State and local government departments and agencies to investigate disclosures and remedy any defects and wrongdoing. Furthermore, the Bill provides protection for whistleblowers including confidentiality, employment protection and immunity from any criminal or civil liability. |

Royal Assent given 22 May 2003 as Act No. 29 of 2003. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
