Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to amend the Firearms Act 1973 in order to -
1. Introduce a new circumstance of aggravation and penalty where a person carries an unlicensed firearm and drugs or money; 2. Implement the requirements of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG)/ Australian Police Ministers' Council (APMC) resolutions on handguns; 3. Modernise some provisions and penalties of the Act; 4. Remove ambiguity about the lawfulness of playing paintball in Western Australia and provide for the licensing of paintball guns; and
5. Implement the Machinery of Government recommendation to repeal the Firearms Advisory Committee. |
Status | Assented to 12/08/2004 Royal Assent given 8 Dec 2004 as Act No. 69 of 2004. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts) |
