Synopsis

The purpose of this Bill is to provide a framework to protect the privacy of personal information handled by public entities, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and contracted service providers to public entities; and to provide a framework to authorise the responsible sharing of information held by public entities; and to establish the office of Chief Data Officer; and to amend the Freedom of Information Act 1992; and to make consequential amendments to other Acts; and for related purposes.
