Long Title |
The purpose of this Bill is to bring the Family Court Act 1997 of Western Australia up-to-date with the Family Law Act 1975 of the Commonwealth. It incorporates those amendments made to the Family Law Act 1975 (Cwlth) by the Commonwealth Parliament in the last few years and those that will be made by the Family Law Amendment (Shared Parental Responsibility) Bill 2005 (Cwlth). As a result this legislation those Western Australians in a de facto relationship, and their ex nuptial children, will be in the same position as their married counterparts and the children of those marriages. |
