Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to assist authorities to investigate organised crime in Western AUstralia. The Bill seeks to amend the Coroners Act 1996 to ensure that failure to obey a summons; order or direction of a coroner will incur a substantial penalty. Further, the Bill seeks to amend the Surveillance Devices Act 1998 (WA) to ensure that any power that a person has, as a member of the police force of Western Australia, may be exercised for the purpose of carrying out a function that the same person has as a member of the staff of the National Crime Authority. This Bill is designed to complement the Criminal Investigation (Exceptional Powers) and Fortifications Removal Bill 2001. |
