Long Title

The purpose of this Bill is to make provisions for the protection and enhancement of the ecological and community benefits and amenity of the Swan and Canning Rivers and associated lands. The new legislation improves the State's ability to coordinate management of activities that may affect the Swan and Canning Rivers. The legislation will replace the Swan River Trust Act 1988 and the Environmental Protection (Swan and Canning Rivers) Policy 1997.

Royal Assent given 6 Oct 2006 as Act No. 51 of 2006. This Act comes into operation on a day fixed by Proclamation (see Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
