The Bill repeals the Change of Names Registration Act 1923, the Legitimation Act 1909 and the Registration of Identity of Persons Act 1975 and makes consequential amendments to a number of other statutes as part of an important package of reforms proposed under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Bill 1998 to achieve greater nationwide consistency in the registration of births, deaths and marriages. |
