The purpose of this Bill is to provide protection from civil action against a member of the Police Service. This protection is for anything that the member has done, without corruption or malice, in the performance of their functions as a member of the Police Service, whether or not under a written or other law. Importantly, this Bill does not preclude an innocent third party from seeking compensation for any injury or loss arising from an action of a member of the Police Service, which is negligent but neither malicious nor corrupt. |
