Long Title |
The purpose of this Bill will modernise and consolidate criminal proceedings for both summary and indictable matters and bring procedures in the summary jurisdiction in line with those in superior courts. It will prescribe criminal procedures for matters in the new Magistrates Court and in the Supreme and District Courts to give this State a consolidated statute covering criminal procedure for both summary and indictable matters. In doing so, this Bill will repeal the Justices Act 1902, but still retain the substantive criminal procedural provisions of that Act. |
