Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to implement the recommendations of the report of a Ministerial Review undertaken into the operations and effectiveness of the Disability Services Act 1993. Specifically, the Bill will -
where it is in the best interests of people with disabilities, strengthen the application of competition policy to the outsourcing and purchasing of client services; respond to the community's strong support for better targeted services in the area of disability services complaints and reconciliation; strengthen the existing provisions relating to the reporting of client death and serious accidents; and
increase the community's access to and involvement with the Disability Service Plan initiative by introducing decentralised reporting by all public authorities about their Disability Service Plans. |
