Criminal Code Amendment (Home Invasion) Bill 2000

Long Title
The purpose of this Bill is to introduce a new section 244 to the Criminal Code which extends the right to defend against home invasion. It gives home occupiers the power to use such force as they believe, on reasonable grounds, to be necessary to defend against the invasion of their dwelling which includes the whole surroundings of the dwelling as well as the dwelling itself.
