The purpose of this Bill is to amend the Mining Act 1978, in order to provide secure longer term tenure for miscellaneous licences. Miscellaneous licences provide tenure for supporting type infrastructure such as roads, pipelines and powerlines. These licenses are currently granted for a period of 5 years and may be renewed or further renewed for periods of up to 5 years. This Bill provides that the term of such be for 21 years, with a legally enforceable right to renew for a further term of 21 years. |
