Vexatious Proceedings Restriction Bill 2000
Bill No.
136
Long Title
The purpose of this Bill is to address the difficulties of having persons declared to be vexatious under the existing Vexatious Proceedings Restriction Act 1930, which is proposed to be repealed. Importantly, the Bill will widen the range of persons who may seek an order that a person is a vexatious litigant. Another key feature of the Bill is that it also provides for the rescission or variation of an order that a person is a vexatious litigant and for the recognition of orders made in another jurisdiction. The Bill also provides protection to a person who may be the target of a vexatious litigant.
