Long Title The purpose of this Bill is to repeal the current Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1920 and provide for the protection of animals by regulating the use of animals for scientific purposes, and prohibiting cruel, inhumane or improper treatment of animals.
Status Assented to
Royal Assent given 15 Nov 2002 as Act No. 33 of 2002. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
