Criminal Code Amendment Bill 2001

Long Title

The purpose of this Bill is to amend the The Criminal Code to create a new offence to apply to hoaxes. The new laws may be applied to any act intended to create a false belief, suspicion or fear as to the existence of threats or danger. It is the intention of the Bill that the new offence shall carry a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment.
