Acts Amendment (Fines Enforcement) Bill 1999 |
Bill No. | 74 |
Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to amend the -
Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices Enforcement Act 1994; and
Sentencing Act 1995. The Bill seeks to allow for fines to be converted to a Work and Development Order, either in court or by the Registrar of the Fines Enforcement Registry. This conversion will be in circumstances where an offender has no capacity to pay and licence suspension is likely to be ineffective, and will ensure that the court's order will be dealt with in a timely manner and enforced whilst still fresh in the offender's mind. |
