Adoption Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2002 |
Bill No. | 137 |
Long Title | The purpose of this Bill is to give effect to the recommendations of the 1997 review of the Adoption Act 1994. The basis for the amendments are grounded in the principle that Adoption is a service for children. The Bill furthers the conceptual change that occurred in 1995, which introduced open adoption amongst the three main parties to adoption - the adoptee, the adoptive parents and the birth parents. The Bill also introduces addtional amendments that are related to administrative matters. These amendments will improve the operation of the Act. |
